The most recent step in efforts to clear Slovenia milk and dairy exports was made during a four-day visit to China by Agriculture Ministry State Secretary Tanja Strniša which ended on Tuesday.

Strniša, who spoke of a major step in boosting of agro-industry trade between the two countries, explained that she also discussed clearance procedures for other foodstuffs of animal origin.

She pointed to meat, meat products, fish, honey and honey products, expressing the hope China would conclude procedures enabling Slovenian exports as soon as possible.

Strniša met several officials during her visit, including Director General of the International Cooperation Department of Ministry of Agriculture Qu Sixi. Talks with Qu focused on preparations for an official visit by Agriculture, Food and Forestry Minister Dejan Židan and Slovenia's presence at the China Agricultural Trade Fair Fuzhou in November.

Strniša moreover thanked Su Chunyu, director general for International Cooperation of China's State Forestry Administration, for support expressed to efforts to have Slovenia take over coordination in the field of forestry and the wood industry between China and countries in central and eastern Europe.
