Air and Coach Passenger Numbers Up in H1

Adria Airways carried 549,000 passengers in the first half of the year, up 14.8% compared with the same period last year. Passenger kilometres rose by 15.4% to 558.6m in the same period.

Ljubljana's Jože Pučnik Airport handled 626,000 passengers or 9.6% more than in the first six months of last year.

Public transportation companies operating coaches on scheduled inter-city and international routes meanwhile registered a 5.5% growth in passenger numbers to 15.21m in the first half of the year.

City buses carried 24.1m passengers between June and January, which is a drop of as much as 13.9% from the same period a year ago.

Inter-city and international regular coach services clocked in 269.3m passenger kilometres, 5.7% more than in the first half of 2014.

The number of passengers coming through Slovenia's ports meanwhile fell by 0.3% to 31,160.

The Statistics Office also reported a 12% rise in the number of road motor vehicles registered for the first time. There were 55,066 in the first half of the year.

Of the newly registered vehicles, 42,723 were cars, which represents a growth of 15.3% year-on-year.
