New Ambassador Appointments Suspended over Funds Misuse Report

Nekategorizirano

The president's office announced the decision after Pahor held consultations on Tuesday with PM Miro Cerar over how appointments should proceed after a Foreign Ministry report raised a number of cases of alleged misuse of funds at Slovenian embassies since 2009.

Pahor will wait for the government's assessment whether the findings in the report in any way affect its proposals for the appointments of ambassadors and heads of missions, the release reads.

The ambassadors exposed in the report include candidates for new ambassadorial posts, including former Ambassador at Vienna Aleksander Geržina, who is unofficially nominated for new ambassador to Croatia.

Ambassadors are ultimately appointed by the president after being approved by the government at the proposal of the Foreign Ministry.
