Number of Overnight Stays Up 7% in First Half

In the first half of the year, tourism facilities in Slovenia welcomed more than 1.5 million tourists, which is 10% more than in the same period last year.

The number of foreign tourists was up by 8% and the number of domestic tourists by 11%, while the number of overnight stays generated by foreigners was up by 8% and by Slovenians by 6%.

In June alone, the number of overnight stays was also up by 7% year-on-year to 975,000, while the number of tourists was up by 10% to 376,000. Foreign tourists accounted for 65% of all overnight stays in June.

Germans accounted for the biggest share among foreign tourists in June (14%), followed by tourists from Austria (12%), Italy (10%), the UK (7%) and the Netherlands, Russia and Croatia (4% each).

The number of tourists from the UK increased the most (by 30%), followed by Croatians (24%) and Dutch (13%).

Almost 580,000 of overnight stays in June or 60% were generated in hotels, while almost 160,000 or 16% were recorded in camps.
