The minister said intercultural dialogue should particularly be encouraged at the time when migration flows are making Europe culturally increasingly diverse, the Culture Ministry said in a press release.

Bizjak Mlakar presented to the commissioner Slovenia's efforts for intercultural dialogue at the national and EU levels.

The pair agreed that joint efforts at the EU level promoting culture were adding value to bilateral cooperation between member states.

The minister also briefed Navracsics on Slovenia's efforts to introduce special visas for artists from EU countries travelling to the US.

Exchanging views on cultural heritage with the commissioner, Bizjak Mlakar underlined the importance of preserving cultural diversity, including linguistic diversity in the face of the planned digital single market.

The pair also touched on copyright issues and regulation of providing audio-visual contents on-line.

Tibor Navracsics, who also met Education, Science and Sport Minister Maja Makovec Brenčič yesterday, will attend the Bled Strategic Forum today.

He will take part in the panel entitled "Bridges of the Mediterranean: The Power of Intercultural Dialogue".
