Slovenia Entering Crucial Phase of Euro 2016 Qualifying

Coach Srečko Katanec says that the goal is the full six points, which would significantly boost Slovenia's chances of qualifying for the tournament in France.

"My goal is always to play the best way possible with the purpose of winning. I cannot tell my players to play to earn a [draw]. I never knew how to do that and have never done it. You always need to score a goal," Katanec said ahead of the match with Switzerland.

The Swiss will also be motivated because a win against Slovenia with a two-goal difference and a win against England in London on Tuesday would secure them second place in the qualifying group E that leads directly to France.

They will also be looking to avenge the 0-1 loss to Slovenia in the qualifiers last October in Maribor.

Slovenia will meanwhile have another opportunity to take a good position ahead of the last two qualifying matches in October, as they host on Tuesday Estonia, to whom they lost the opener in Tallinn last September.

After the six qualifying matches played, England lead the group with a perfect score of 18 points, followed by Switzerland with 12, Slovenia with nine, Estonia with seven, Lithuania with six and San Marino with a single point.

Slovenia's roster for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers against Switzerland and Estonia:
- goalkeepers: Samir Handanović (Inter), Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid), Nejc Vidmar (Domžale)
- defenders: Boštjan Cesar (Chievo), Branko Ilić (Astana), Bojan Jokić (Villarreal), Luka Krajnc (Cagliari), Miral Samardžić (Rijeka), Nejc Skubic (Domžale), Andraž Struna (Pas Giannina)
