Slovenia bounced back from a crushing 2:3 loss to Switzerland in Basel on Saturday, which saw the team collapse in the last 15 minutes after leading 2:0.

Slovenia's striker Robert Berić scored the only and decisive goal of the match in the 63th minute to bring joy for some 6,000 fans who showed up in the Ljudski vrt stadium tonight.

The 24-year-old who plays professionally for Saint-Etienne scored his first goal for the national team in his sixth match for Slovenia.

Slovenia are now third in Group E two matches to go with 12 points and hope they can still catch up on the second-placed Switzerland and secure direct qualification for the UEFA Euro 2016. England are firmly on the top with a perfect 24 points out of eight matches.

Slovenia will continue the campaign at home on 9 October against Lithuania and conclude the qualifiers on the road against minnows San Marino on 12 October.
