"The Tree" Slovenian Candidate for Oscar Nomination

The Tree tells a story about two boys who are not allowed outside the walls of the family house due to a threat of a bloody vendetta.

The film has received several awards, among them Vesnas for the best male lead, the best photography and the best film score at the 2014 Slovenian Film Festival.

The Slovenian Filmmakers' Association, which has been asked to provide a candidate by the Los Angeles Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said in a press release on Wednesday that The Tree had been chosen from among three feature films.

Also vying for the candidacy were "Šuplje priče: Zdej te je, a zdej te ni" (Šuplje priče: The Movie) by Samir Bajrić and "Vloga za Emo" (Changing Ema) by Alen Pavšar.
