Over 300 VIP guests have been invited, among them European Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc. Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec is the honorary sponsor.

Last year's regatta featured diplomats from 39 countries, among them 18 ambassadors, who competed on 51 boats.

The event was launched in 2003 under the sponsorship of the Foreign Ministry based on an idea by Slovenia's honorary consul to Australia Viktor Baraga and the head of the Sailing Club Veter Branko Auguštin.
