New Central Bank Vice-Governor Appointed

Vodopivec Jean, deputy president of the Bank Association, was cleared by the parliamentary Privileges and Credentials Commission earlier this month.

She was nominated by President Borut Pahor after he determined in talks with parliamentary party representatives that she would receive strong support in the National Assembly.

The president picked Vodopivec Jean after parliament in July rejected the re-appointment of Janez Fabijan, who he came one vote short of the required absolute majority.

At the time several parties said they rejected him since he was involved in decisions leading to the late-2013 bank bailout and insisted on a candidate that had nothing to do with that.

Vodopivec Jean is joining Governor Boštjan Jazbec and fellow vice-governors Darko Bohnec, Stanislava Zadravec Caprirolo and Mejra Festić on the governing board.
