Revoz Slashing 150 Jobs

The daytime-shift output will be gradually reduced by about 10% over the next few weeks, from 42 to 38 cars an hour, the Novo mesto-based company announced on Tuesday.

Despite a good response of the market to Renault Twingo and Smart Forfour, the demand is not quite at the level expected a good year since the production of the two models was launched, the release said.

The output reduction will be followed by an adjustment in the number of staff, mainly agency workers. Shop steward Slavko Pungeršič told the STA that about 150 temps would lose their jobs.

Revoz said that despite the reduced volume of production, the company continued to meet the terms of the FDI incentive agreement signed with the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.

The company hired more than 1,000 workers in the initial phase of the project.

After launching two shifts and a half in December 2014, the company returned to two-shift production in late February when some 450 agency workers lost their jobs.
