The situation in higher education, infrastructure, market efficiency, technological development and efficiency of the commodity market was assessed positively, while the categories size of the market, innovation, institutions and the efficiency of the labour market and macroeconomic environment did not fare well.

Switzerland continues to top the list for the seventh year in a row and is followed by Singapore and the United States.

Slovenia's neighbours Austria, Italy, Hungary and Croatia ranked 23rd, 43rd, 63rd and 77th, respectively.

The annual WEF rankings are comprised based on economic indicators and results of a survey among managers, with the latter having a greater weight.
