Organised as part of the 25th Days of the European Heritage, the event was also attended by President Borut Pahor, the honorary sponsor of the 25th anniversary celebrations.

The idea behind the project by the Ethnographic Museum and the Consortium of Handicraft Centres is to promote quality products and enable the passing of handicrafts skills on to younger generations.

Visitors in Ljubljana today had the opportunity to try to make some handicrafts themselves while the products made by experienced hands were on sale.

President Pahor expressed the wish that "our grandchildren could in hundred years still admire the extraordinary scope of the Slovenian cultural heritage that has left a profound mark on our national identity."

The Consortium of Handicraft Centres, uniting nine handicraft centres from around Slovenia, was set up in 2014 to contribute to better legal status of handicraft in Slovenia. It unites over 750 craftsmen and craftswomen of whom 140 boast the Art&Craft certificate.
