Brussels Withdraws Action against Slovenia over e-Waste

The decree on waste electrical and electronic equipment sets out rules of handling and other conditions aimed to prevent or reduce the harmful effects of e-waste and its treatment.

The decree was adopted by the government on 23 July and became effective on 8 August. The Commission was notified on 4 August, establishing that with its adoption the country fully enacted the corresponding EU directive.

The Commission thus decided to withdraw the action against the country in the case, proposing to the EU Court of Justice to have the case deleted from the register, the ministry said in a press release.

Initiated in April this year, the action was the third brought against Slovenia before the EU court over environmental legislation this year.
