Scandinavian Crime Novel Set in Slovenia

ÄŒuden, who has translated several Scandinavian crime novels into Slovenian, has pointed out at a news conference that good Scandinavian authors did not write only about solving crime cases, but also included extensive encyclopedic information.

Brun, who was in Slovenia for the book launch, said that he had chosen Slovenia's capital as the novel's main location for two reasons. He believes the city is just big enough for his taste and he also enjoyed its relaxed social atmosphere.

While the novel is set in present-day Slovenia, its plot goes back to the time when Slovenia gained independence in 1991. It revolves around Keitl Brandt, a former correspondent for the Balkan wars, who becomes involved in a hellish circle of human trafficking and corruption.

Last evening, the author, who himself worked for two decades as a war correspondent covering the Yugoslav wars, was the main guest of a literary event organised and hosted by Sanje in the city centre.
