Slovenia and Germany to boost academic exchange programmes

The minister also met her German counterpart Johanna Wanka to discuss further cooperation in terms of exchange of students, research and with Slovenia's plan to introduce a system of apprenticeships, which Germany already has.

"The goal of the visit is to consolidate the cooperation declaration between Slovenia and Germany," the minister told the STA.

She visited among other things the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, which is to start cooperation with Maribor University already in the next academic year.

Moreover, Makovec Brenčič visited the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, with which the Primorsko University wants to continue an existing project.

Makovec Brenčič also praised the Slovenian Ambassador in Berlin, Marta Kos Marko, and the German Ambassador in Ljubljana, Anna Elizabeth Prinz, for their efforts to bolster cooperation in education.
