The annual meeting of businesses and government officials will be addressed by PM Miro Cerar and European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs Elzbieta Bienkowska.

The event at which business executives discuss with senior government and party representatives various topical issues will this year focus on requests for an industrial revival.

The summit host GZS believes that there is a lack of debate in Slovenia about the development of domestic industry, despite it contributing the most to exports as one of the main forces pulling Slovenia out of the crisis.

The participants will thus debate the question how to increase added value in strongest industrial branches in Slovenia to 80% of the EU average by 2020.

The GZS will also present at the summit its "manifesto for the revival of industry" in which it calls for a "smart business environment".

The proposals of the GZS for a smart business environment consist of "smart tax, human resources and development" policies", while the document also calls for promotion of industry abroad.

In addition to industry of the future, which will be discussed with Economic Development and Technology Minister Zdravko Počivalšek, the main topics of the event include tax restructuring and reduction of administrative burden.

Commissioner Bienkowska will meanwhile also hold a number of working meetings as part of her visit to Slovenia, including with Cerar, Počivalšek and the head of the Chamber of Trade Crafts and Small Business Branko Meh.
