Sovereign holding board overhauled

Neither of the current board members were reappointed.

Joining Jazbec in the new board of the custodian of state corporate holdings will be Anja Strojin Štampar, a board member at the state-run KAD fund, and current SSH staffer Nada Drobne Popovič.

Current board members, chairman Matej Pirc and member Matej Runjak, were not selected by the supervisory board despite media speculation in recent days that one could be selected.

The appointments were made following an international public call for applications published on 10 September in which 46 applications arrived. A selection commission concluded that 20 application fit the criteria.

The appointment of a full-fledged management board comes 16 months after the SSH was formed with the transformation of the state SOD fund into an expanded state asset manager.

Pirc and Runjak inherited the management of the SSH after previously heading SOD.

The SSH has been in the spotlight in recent months because of its role in managing the sale of state-owned assets from the 2013 list of 15 companies for privatisation.

The failed effort to privatise a majority stake in telco Telekom Slovenije in the summer proved to be one of the biggest tests for the holding and its managers, who complained of massive pressure from lobbies opposed to the sale.
