Growth this year is projected to stand at 2.6%, followed by 1.9% next year and 2.5% in 2017.

The Commission upgraded its forecast for Slovenia's economy for this year from its spring outlook, when it projected growth of 2.3%.

For next year, the outlook has been revised slightly downward from 2.1%, due to the effect of the end of financing from the 2007-2013 budget period, which will cut into investments.

After the slight slowdown in growth in 2016, the Slovenian economy is expected to pick up pace again in 2017, with the Commission expecting it to expand by 2.5%.

The general government deficit in Slovenia is meanwhile expected to stand at 2.9% this year, dropping to 2.4% next year and 2% in 2017.
