Share of R&D funds down in 2014

As much as 77% of all funds for R&D, or 688.5 million euros, was earmarked by the business sector, a rise of almost 12 million euros from the year before.

With EUR 609m, companies accounted for the largest share of all R&D funds within the business sector.

Following the sector were the general government sector (EUR 108.3m or 12% of the total sum) and the higher education sector (EUR 93.1m or 10%).

State funds for R&D are meanwhile dropping; last year they fell by 23% or by 57.3 million euros over 2013.

The share of men and women in R&D remained unchanged last year, with women representing only 36% of the employees.
