Slovenia donates EUR 20,000 to help refugees during winter

On 5 November, the UN agency for refugees released a call for humanitarian aid of some 96 million US dollars to countries which are taking in the most refugees.

Currently more than 12 million refugees are in need of emergency humanitarian aid, 5.6 million of which are children. A third of the total has sought refuge in neighbouring countries, but in recent months an increasing number has embarked on a dangerous path through the EU.

Slovenia has already responded to such calls, most notably in September this year, when it donated EUR 30,000 in humanitarian aid to refugees in SE Europe. Another such donation was made in March, when Slovenia allocated EUR 60,000 of humanitarian aid to Syria during the Syrian civil war.
