The festival is organised by the Berlin-based Periskop society, established last year with the aim of broadening Germany's horizons on Slovenia's accomplishments in the field of art and culture.

Held in Berlin's Kino Babylon cinema, Neues Slowensisches Kino will feature nine films, including the feature-length Class Enemy (2013) by Rok Biček, the documentary A Fight For (2014) by Siniša Gačić, and the short Shoes from Trieste (2014) by Gregor Božič.

Slovenian directors will be the main guests of various discussions, which will be held after the screenings, according to the Slovenian Film Centre (SFC), the festival's main sponsor.

The films were selected by Slovenian producer Marina Gumzi, who said they were created in different periods and varied in content, but they all clearly presented the high quality of the country's production.

The Berlin film milieu already saw potential in Slovenia's film culture in 2001, when the same cinema held a retrospective of Slovenian film.

According to Nerina Kocijančič from SFC, the event featured Slovenian classics such as Dance in the Rain (1961) by Boštjan Hladnik, Red Boogie (1982) by Karpo Godina, and Outsider (1997) by Andrej Košak.
