The government concluded that the agency's abbreviation, SPIRIT Slovenija, would remain unchanged. As of today, the agency will be in charge of promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, technological development, and internationalisation.

The number of the agency's board members was reduced from eight to seven, as it will no longer need a member to represent the Tourism and Hospitality Chamber, due to the change in its duties.

SPIRIT was first established in 2012 as a merger of the Agency for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investment (JAPTI), the Slovenian Tourism Board (STO) and the Technology Agency (TIA).

The Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) was extracted from the agency on 1 August this year. Its main job is promoting Slovenia as a tourist destination in foreign markets.
