The 27th Ljubljana Marathon, the biggest such event in the country, will start from the Ajdovščina Plaza in the city centre on Sunday, 22 October, featuring marathon, half marathon and 10km run plus a handbike half marathon. The day before pre-school children will compete in a 200m Lumpi run.

Apart from moving the start gate, the organizers have also moved the Ljubljana Marathon Expo to the Stožice Arena where the runners will collect their bib numbers and backpacks.

The change of venue is to allow for a greater number of participants. A shuttle service will be available from Stožice to the city centre.

More than 12,600 runners had registered for the event by 4 October and applications are accepted until 10 October.
