Faust, a ballet interpretation of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's work by Romanian-born choreographer Edward Clug, will open at SNG Maribor theatre on 10 November with four reruns until 18 November before the production visits Ljubljana's Cankarjev Dom in January 2024.

Taking on the legend of the soul-searching scholar who sells his soul to the devil in exchange for the elixir of youth, Clug has created a vibrant theatrical event. It is a dark and tragic tale spiced with very black comedy and told in a series of inspired theatrical moments, reads the preview.

The ballet has been put on in a co-production between SNG Maribor and Cankarjev Dom and in cooperation with Opernhaus Zürich. The score has been written by Milko Lazar.
