Museums and galleries and other venues across the country will be open to visitors admission free on Merry Day of Culture, a festival remembering the birth of France Prešeren (1800-1849), Slovenia's greatest poet.

The Culture Ministry launched the Merry Day of Culture initiative in 2000 when Slovenia marked 200 years since Prešeren's birth.

Admission-free events include theatre and dance performances, concerts, film screenings, lectures, workshops, guided tours and many other events for all age groups.

Ljubljana Castle is one of the institutions that will be open to visitors admission free.
