Ljubljana

Ljubljana's Cankarjev Dom will host a two-day festival showcasing Slovenian jazz creativity on 13 and 14 February.

Called Snowdrops and Primroses, after a popular 1958 jazz song, the festival will see eight jazz ensembles, including one from Austria.

It will open with a concert by the Slovenian-German band Lilamors, who play electro-acoustic music, and close with a concert by Krajnčan Brothers, featuring Žigan and Kristijan Krajnčan.

Other artists include pianists Miha Gantar and his trio, featuring US double bass player William Barrett and drummer Tristan Renfrow; Sašo Vollmaier with a solo piano project featuring adaptations of songs by Laibach; and Drago Ivanuša with his project Magnetik, a collaboration with four other Slovenian musicians.

The Vienna-based artists Asja Valčić and Raphael Preuschl will "explore the warm, earthly tunes" of violoncello and ukulele bass, while the Copenhagen-based saxophonist Luka Zabric will present his international band the The Gatherers.

Drummer Gaj Bostič and his international band will present the project Mrk (Eclipse), mixing various music elements.
