Ljubljana Jazz Festival

Jul 10 - Jul 13
Ljubljana

The 65th edition of the Ljubljana Jazz Festival will pay tribute to the jazz roots as well as celebrate contemporary modes of expression. It will take audiences from Recife in northern Brazil, to the American "jazz triangle" of New Orleans, Chicago and New York, from Stockholm and back home.

The festival will open at the Križanke open air theatre with a double bill with the eminent reed player Charles Lloyd, who has made a major impact on the jazz scene over the last six decades, and the jazz luminary Chief Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott), hailing from New Orleans, the cradle of jazz.

The next concert in Cankarjev Dom will see a joint appearance by double bassist Dave Holland and guitarist John Scofield. They will perform their original compositions as well as jazz standards.

The lineup also includes Amaro Freitas Trio, Artbeaters, Anže Mikulan, Boštjan Gombač & Igor Leonardi, Goran Kajfeš Tropiques, James Brandon Lewis Trio, Kahil El'Zabar Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, Kaisa's Machine, otherMother, Roots Magic and Tututu Orchestra.

Several concerts will take place in the park by Cankarjev Dom.

The festival will feature a total of 20 concerts by nearly 100 performers from more than 20 countries.
