Night of Fortresses at Rajhenburg Castle

May 10
Brestanica

Rajhenburg Castle in Brestanica, in the east of the country, is joining over 40 locations in six European countries for the Night of Fortresses, an event celebrating the cultural heritage of forts and castles.

At Rajhenburg, originally built between 1131 and 1147 by Archbishop Konrad of Salzburg and considered one of the finest examples of medieval castle architecture in Slovenia, visitors will be treated to a tour focusing on the fortification aspects of the building.

The admission-free event will also feature a concert by renowned Slovenian double bassist Žiga Golob and percussionist Andrej Hrvatin.

Rajhenburg, perched on a rocky prominence sixty metres above the confluence of the Brestanica stream and the Sava River, was renovated comprehensively just over ten years ago.
