Named one of the world's 25 best festivals by the British magazine Songlines, Druga Godba is bringing some of the best world music musicians to Ljubljana for the 40th year running.

This year's line-up is headlined by Ibrahim Maalouf and the duo Mats Gustafsson & Kimmo Pohjonen. Both will perform at the opening concert at the Križanke open-air theatre.

Swedish saxophonist Gustafsson and Finnish accordion player Pohjonen joined forces at the initiative of Druga Godba for their debut concert at the festival.

French-Lebanon trumpet player Maalouf, the most popular instrumentalist in France, will be accompanied by The Trumpets of Michel Ange.

The festival will see musicians from a total of 13 countries perform at five concert venues; Križanke, Cankarjev Dom, Kino Šiška and three AKC Metelkova mesto venues.

This year the BBC will be reporting from Ljubljana about the festival and the Slovenian music scene.
