Kino Otok - Isola Cinema festival

Th seaside town of Izola will host the 20th edition of its signature international film festival, Kino Otok - Isola Cinema, between 5 and 9 June.

The festival, which focuses on auteur films, will see 44 feature films and 77 shorts, as well as a number of guests, many of them returning to the festival with their latest films.

The screenings will take place at the open-air cinemas Manzioli and Arrigoni and at the Video on the Beach near the Lighthouse, under the roof of the Odeon Art Cinema, at the Cultural Centre and other locations.

Auteurs presenting their films include Emilija Gašić (78 days, Serbia), Oscar Allegrio (Zinzindurrunkarratz, Spain), Ivan Ramljak (El Shatt - a plan for utopia, Croatia, Serbia), Guillermo Giampetro and Pavel Berdon (Listen to Me/Escuchame, Italy), Neil Young (Point d'Impact, Austria, Poland) and Shoghakhat Vardanyan (1489, Armenia).

Bill Morrison will be featured with several short films, including Incident (US), as will Laura Samani.

The local guests include director Maja Weiss and screenwriter Nataša Konc Lorenzutti with their film Snatched from the Source, Jan Cvitkovič with Bread and Milk and Remigio Grižonič from Izola with several short films.

The festival will close a music-film event by two locals, musician Elvis Šahbaz and filmmaker Davorin Marc.

After the Video on the Beach screenings, the audience will have a chance to listen to and mingle with the filmmakers.
