The Maribor Theatre festival, Slovenia's leading, will see a total of 12 productions in the running for awards plus 12 in the accompanying programme, including several theatre hits from abroad.

The accompanying programme will get under way on 3 June with Angel of History, the Best Italian Theatre Show 2022 winner.

Meanwhile, the official opening ceremony on 7 June will feature Soul Chain, a contemporary dance production choreographed Sharon Eyal for tanzmainz, the troupe of the Mainz State Theatre.

The shows in the competition programme have been selected from some 100 Slovenian productions from 2023.

For the first time, the festival has co-produced an international production, The End of the World in Three Acts, which is on the programme on 4, 5 and 6 June.

Apart from theatre and dance shows, the festival also features exhibitions, concerts, talks and book presentations.
