Jul 11 - Aug 3
Ljubljana

The courtyard of Ljubljana Castle will once again turn into an open-air cinema for the annual Film Under the Stars series. The festival will see 24 films, including six premieres.

The opening film, Fallen Leaves (Kuolleet lehdet) which won its director Aki Kaurismaki the Cannes Jury Prize, will be accompanied by a preview of The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent (Čovjek koji nije mogao šutjeti), a Palm D'Or winning short film by Nebojša Slijepčević.

Other highlights include the Italian black-and-white comedy drama There's Still Tomorrow (C'e ancora domani) by Paola Cortellesi and My Favourite Cake (Keyke mahboobe man), an Iranian rom-com celebrating women, life and freedom featured at this year's Berlinale.

The Second Act (Le deuxieme acte), a comedy about the making of first film directed by AI, will be screened on 25 July.

Sonja Prosenc's Family Therapy (Odrešitev za začetnike), which premiered at the Tribeca film festival in New York in June, will have its Slovenian premiere on 30 July.

The festival will conclude on 3 August with Kneecap by Rich Peppiatto, in which members of the Irish rap trio Kneecap play themselves in a daring and funny biography and call for the protection of the Irish language.

All films will be screened at 9.30 pm in the original language with Slovenian subtitles. Films that are not originally in English will also have English subtitles.

In case of rain, the films will be screened the following day in the Kinodvor cinema.
