Jazzinty festival

Novo Mesto in the southeast will host jazz lovers and musicians for the 24th iteration of its international jazz workshop and festival Jazzinty.

At the workshop, participants will hone their craft under different mentors for six days. They will have the opportunity to create music individually as well as in jazz combos that will be put together by mentors.

The jazz festival will open on 12 August with a performance by Ljubljana University jazz music students, followed by a concert of Miss C-Line, a Swiss alternative neo-soul performer.

The Bojan Cvetković Quartet from Serbia will perform on 13 August. The second event of the night will be Honey Sparks in the Night, a modern music and dance performance.

Luka Zabric, the winner of the Jazzon Award for best Slovenian jazz composition for Vag abond Suite, will give a concert on 14 August, followed by pianist Sašo Vollmeier, who will perform music by the industrial band Laibach.

A day later will bring a saxophone and guitar concert with Dutch Reinier Baas and Ben van Gelder, as well as a concert by songstress Lucy Woodward and pianist Henry Hey from the US.

Slovenia's Smrdel Brothers Collective will perform on 16 August with Marina Martensson. The second concert of the night will see Bojana Vunturišević, one of Serbia's leading composers.

The festival will wrap up with a concert by the workshop participants.
