Days of Poetry and Wine

Aug 19 - Aug 24
Ptuj

South Korean poetry will be in focus of this year's Days of Poetry and Wine, an international literary festival centred in Ptuj, Slovenia's oldest town.

This year's curator, Ukrainian-American poet Ilya Kaminsky has selected 21 poets from around the globe to be featured at the festival. Most of them have lived between different countries.

Danish poet and writer Pia Tafdrup and Valzhyina Mort, a Belarussian poet who lives in the US, will be the guests and honour. Bilingual collections of their poems have been released on the occasion.

Jacek Dehnel, a Polish poet who lives in Germany, has written this year's Open Letter to Europe in which he discusses how artificial intelligence interferes with creative process. He will read it at the festival's opening on 22 August.

Three South Korean authors will take part in the festival - Kim Kyung Ju, a poet and performing artist, and Choi Young-mi and Kim Yi-deum, both poets and novelists.

Apart from poetry readings and wine tastings, the festival will see film screenings, concerts, exhibitions and walks.

The events will mostly take place in Ptuj, but also in several other towns, including in Austria and Croatia.

Latvian poet Artis Ostups and Lithuanian poet Dovile Bagdonaite will be the first guests of the festival's residency.
