Brda Contemporary Music Festival
Sept 12 - Sept 14 Brda
Held in Slovenia's best-known wine region, the Brda Contemporary Music Festival brings together world-renowned musicians and other artists.
Dedicated to creative music and improvisation, the festival promotes cooperation between artists on both sides of the border, brings together young musicians with established artists, and combines music with visual art and poetry.
This year's edition is dedicated to a long-time friend of the festival, late Mauro Bardusco. The festival is curated by musician Zlatko Kaučič.
The line-up this year is headlined by Czech musician Iva Bittova and Norwegian saxophonist Frode Gjerstad. Both well-known names on the international improvisation scene, they will also share their experiences at workshops during the festival.
The line-up also includes Heather Leigh, Kaja Draksler, Szymon Gasiorek, Boštjan Simon, Luigi Vitale, Alfonso Munoz and Christine Abdelnour.
Cristina Micelli from Italy and Iztok Osojnik from Slovenia will read their poetry, and visitors will also enjoy an exhibition of Žiga Koritnik's photographs of musicians.
The event, which is held in Medana in the heart of Brda, also involves local winemakers and hospitality providers.
