WTA 125 tennis tournament

Tennis courts in Ljubljana's Tivoli Park are hosting a WTA 125 tennis tournament until 15 September with US$115,000 (€100,000) in prize money.

The tournament will get under way with qualifying and the first of the matches in the opening round with the official opening ceremony at 4pm.

The top seed is Chloe Paquet, the French player who ranks 97th at the WTA rankings. She will face off Briton Francesca Jones (188th) in the opening round.

The second seed, Nuria Parrizas Diaz (100th) from Spain will play Slovakia's Viktorija Hrunčakova (210th), while the third seed Olga Danilović (110th) from Serbia will take on one of the qualified players.

Slovenia's biggest hope at the tournament Veronika Erjavec, currently 207th in the WTA rankings. She will face Italian Matilde Paoletti (1063rd) in her opener.

Pia Lovrič (454th) will take on the 5th seed, German Ella Seidel (133rd).

The quarter-finals in the singles tournament will follow on 13 September and the semi-finals on 14 September, followed by the finals for singles and doubles on 15 September.

Except for the semi-finals and finals, all the matches are admission free. Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday matches are available at Petrol service stations, Eventim points of sale and online, and the event's info point.

Last year the singles tournament was won by Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera.
