European Championship for Young Florists
Aug 24 - Aug 26
Arboretum Volčji Potok, Slovenia's largest botanical gardens, will host the EUROFLEURS, the European Championship for Young Florists. Twelve florists from as many countries will compete in five different tasks or categories, including a hand tied bouquet, a wedding bouquet and a picnic on the grass.
The Arboretum has picked and grown summer flowers especially for the competitors to be able to use in their creations. Working on their tasks, they will be monitored by a five-member international judging panel.
Visitors will get the chance to watch them work at their floral arrangements, which will be displayed in the park's tree-lined path, along the lake and at the archway gallery daily.
The competition will take place on 25 and 26 August. Thee accompanying programme will include presentations of Chinese flower art, special new plants and of flower arrangements using natural materials. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the autumn floristry of the current floristry champion Hanneke Frankema.
