Tinta, an international comics festival

The Tinta Comics Festival will celebrate the diversity of contemporary comic creativity, featuring some 50 comic book authors at more than 20 events at various venues around Ljubljana.
The 11th edition highlights the power of original female voices in the world of comics with Canadian-Serbian author Nina Bunjevac, German comic artist Anna Haifisch and Belgian artist Noémie Marsily.
The festival will also host seasoned French comic masters of international renown, the brilliant cartoonist Grégory Panaccione and the esteemed comic screenwriter Wilfrid Lupano.
The Ukmukfukk zine festival and a colourful group of young Hungarian artists, known for playfully crossing the boundaries of various artistic practices, will also be featured.
This year, the festival will see an international conference of the WOMCOM: Women Power in Comics project to explore the representation of women and the roles of female creators in the comics field.
In a new international residency programme linking Ljubljana and the French comics capital Angoulême, French comic artist André Derainne will be creating in Ljubljana n October, presenting his work at the festival.
Aside from exhibitions, there will be a number of other events for comics enthusiasts of all ages, such as workshops, talks, lectures, storytelling, socialising and masterclasses by visiting artists.
The festival will wrap up with a comics fair at Kino Šiška and an awards ceremony.
