Goran Bertok is one of the most acclaimed Slovenian photographers and he is best known for his portrayal of dead and near-dead human beings. The exhibition at the Celje Centre for Contemporary Arts showcases multiple photo series dealing with this theme that he created between 2004 and 2023.

Bertok strives to radically highlight that which is typically sidelined in society. While his photos often cause unease, they are also profoundly beautiful and provoke deliberations not just on death but also on the nature of humans and humanity.
