Days of German-Language Film

A selection of contemporary films made in Austria, Germany and Switzerland will be screened at the Slovenian Cinematheque as part of the annual festival showcasing the latest German-language film production.
Six films will be shown, most of them released this year. Featuring three live-action films and three documentaries, the series will open with Electric Fields, the multi-award winning debut film by Swiss director Lisa Gertsch. It is about the fragility of human existence and the magic hidden in the little things of everyday life.
Ivo is a German drama about a palliative home-care nurse, written and directed by Eva Trobisch, and Bosanski Lonac (Bosnian Pot) is a drama comedy about a Bosnian writer facing deportation from Austria unless he can prove his contribution to Austrian society.
Dancing Pina by Florian Heinzen-Ziob is a documentary about young dancers from around the world who are rediscovering choreograpies by the celebrated Pina Bausch.
In her documentary Favoriten Ruth Beckermann follows a class of children and their teacher in Vienna's multicultural working-class district, while Echte Schweizer - My Swiss Army is a documentary about Swiss army members of Serbian, Sri Lankan and Tunisian descent.
All the films are in German but subtitled in English and Slovenian.
The festival is organised in cooperation with the Ljubljana Goethe Institute, the Ljubljana Austrian Cultural Forum and the Swiss Embassy in Ljubljana.
