Festive season at Arboretum Volčji Potok

Arboretum Volčji Potok, Slovenia's largest botanical gardens, has put up around two million festive lights arranged in various creations for the Evening Walk among the Lights experience.
Stretching on 35 hectares, 33 kilometres of light strings will be lit every day, including weekends and holidays, from 3pm to 9pm, with a 30% discount for visitors in November, and a 30% discount after 7pm between 1 December and 6 January.
Several new features added this year include a five-hectare meadow with dandelion seedheads, a "golden lake", new LED lighting of the French Garden with two kilometres of multi-coloured lights, a 60-metre "rainbow room", a romantic walk along the lake and four kilometres of lights along the various paths.
There will be 350 square metres of lights in the rosarium, a light fireworks over the backdrop mimicking the former Souvan Mansion, a "large magic tree", 30 spruce trees in red, blue, gold and white and an illuminated waterfall.
Children will be able to listen to a fairy tale in Santa Claus's Land, try out Santa Claus's sleigh, meet a herd of deer, hide and run among the gnomes and meet the Marjetica fairy in December.
It will be possible to enter certain illuminated structures, such as a glowing ball, a rainbow circle and a crystal hall.
Also on display is until the beginning of December will be a nativity scene in the rock garden at the foot of the hill, while a fair featuring musical performances will be organised in mid-December.
