The 40th Slovenian Book Fair is taking place at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre between 26 November and 1 December, with Croatia as the country in focus.

The event will feature a hundred publishers from several countries and a great number of events, including book launches, literary readings, meetings with authors, discussions, exhibitions and award ceremonies.

Special tribute will be paid to poet Ivan Minatti (1924-2012), who would have turned a hundred this year. A leading representative of Slovenian intimism, Minatti is best known for his poem You Have to Love Somebody (Nekoga moraš imeti rad). He was born in Slovenske Konjice, the town in focus of the fair this year.

Events will take place at several different stages inside the venue with the main one hosting fresh awards winners declared this year, among others.

The fair will spill over across the country with exclusive events at select bookshops.

Admission to the fair is free.
