Merry Day of Culture
Dec 3 2024 Country-wide
Museums, galleries and other cultural institutions across the country will be open to visitors admission free on Merry Day of Culture, a festival remembering the birth of France Prešeren (1800-1849), Slovenia's greatest poet.
Admission-free events include exhibitions, theatre and dance performances, concerts, film screenings, lectures, workshops, guided tours and many other events for all age groups.
Some 200 events will be available across the country, including guided tours of back stages of the National Theatre Drama Ljubljana, Maribor Puppet Theatre and Kranj Prešeren Theatre, Ljubljana's skyscraper Nebotičnik, the National and University Library, Križanke and Ljubljana Castle.
The Culture Ministry launched the Merry Day of Culture initiative in 2000 when Slovenia marked 200 years since Prešeren's birth.
