Exhibition on Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings
Dec 3 2024 - Feb 28 2025 Maribor
A travelling Japanese exhibition at the National Liberation Museum in Maribor presents the stories of people before and after the atomic bomb explosions in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The exhibition Hiroshima and Nagasaki 1945 - Then and Never Again features photographs, personal testimonies and original items to tell about the suffering and the strong will of the Japanese nation to build a 'new' Japan.
It also serves as a warning and a reminder that wars bring suffering and do not spare anyone.
The exhibition originated from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, and was first staged in 1995 in Washington, US. It has been travelling around the world since.
It features 31 panels with photographs, and mostly original items from Hiroshima and Nagasaki that tell touching stories of the people who witnessed the tragedy in August 1945.
