LGBT Film Festival

The 40th Ljubljana LGBT Film Festival will see 22 feature films and as many shorts from 35 countries. Italian films will be in focus.
The longest-running LGBT film festival in Europe will open with a double bill at Kinodvor Cinema featuring In Between, a short film by Slovenian Petra Hrovatin, and Zacharias Mavroidis's Greek feature film The Summer with Carmen.
Most of the films will be screened in the Slovenian Cinematheque, while the shorts will also be available on the festival's website. Screenings will also be held in Idrija, Ptuj, Koper, Maribor and in Trieste, Italy.
The festival organisers have highlighted several films, among them the Norwegian-German documentary Code of Fear. Directed by Appolain Siewe, the film delves into the persecution of LGBT+ people in Cameroon.
Other highlights include the animated feature film The Missing, a Filipino production by Carl Joseph E. Papa, and Warm Film, a Serbian film exploring the history of Balkan cinematic queerness.
Greek director Tzeli Hadjidimitriou will be in Ljubljana for the screening of her film Lesvia and a talk, and Nebojša Jovanović will talk about his film following the screening of
The festival will also host Albanian-Greek drag artist Aurora Paola Morado and will feature an admission-free workshop with the Italian-based film director Marius Gabriel Stancu, who was born in Romania.
The Pink Dragon for best feature film, selected by an international judging panel, will be given out on the last day of the festival, along with the audience's award.
