Philharmonic Festival of Baroque Music
Jan 10 2025 - Jan 24 2025 Ljubljana
The 10th Philharmonic Festival of Baroque Music at the Slovenian Philharmonic will focus on the timeless music of Johann Sebastian Bach. It will feature three concerts.
Selected works by the great Baroque master will be performed alongside compositions by his contemporary, Georg Philipp Telemann, at the first concert on 10 January, shedding new light on their historical relationship.
The second concert, on 17 January, will feature compositions by Bach's four sons, Wilhelm Friedemann, Carl Philipp Emanuel, Johann Christoph Friedrich and Johann Christian.
The final concert, entitled Luxuriously, on 24 January, will combine Bach's most popular compositions with some of his less known works, featuring soprano Neža Vasle, alto Ana Potočnik, tenor Oleksandr Nastasiichuk and baritone Martin Kozjek.
All three concerts will be performed by the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Reinhard Goebel. They will be joined by the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir for the final concert.
