The town of Žalec, west of Celje, will host the 17th international percussion festival BUMfest, the only such the country, for three days of energetic music.

There will be workshops and concerts featuring anything from classical percussion music to fun music.

The festival will open with a matinee concert for schools on Friday, 24 January given by the Austrian-German duo Tevana duo featuring pianist Ingvo Clauder and percussionist Claudio Spieler, and Flamenco dancer Eli Ayala.

Tevana & Eli Ayala will also perform at a concert in the evening that will also see the Slovenian percussion group SToP and pop singer Maja Keuc.

Musical workshops will be held throughout Saturday, followed by a concert featuring Chinary drums from Bulgaria and Nežka Prosenjak and Tolkalna fronta from Slovenia.

The festival will wrap up on Sunday after more workshops.
