Pokljuka, a plateau in the Triglav National Park, will host the first ever Para Biathlon World Championships under the International Biathlon Union (IBU) from 3 to 9 February, with the official opening on 6 February.

The organizers say visitors will get a unique chance to experience the thrilling world of para biathlon firsthand as athletes with physical and visual impairments push the boundaries of endurance and precision.

The Para Biathlon World Championships will be the first major competition at the Pokljuka biathlon centre this year, coming ahead of the IBU World Cup Biathlon between 10 and 16 March.

The centre, known for the trails winding through spruce forest and against the backdrop of the Julian Alps, has been hosting top-class biathlon events since the 1992/93 season.
