An exhibition of prints by 22 outstanding artists from the western region of Primorska and across the border in Italy is on show at the Park Hotel in Nova Gorica as part of the European Capital of Culture.

The works come from the graphic art collection of Hit, the company operating several hotels and casinos in Nova Gorica, including Park Hotel.

The hotel's hallways feature 118 prints, and a further 72 are on show in the hotel rooms and apartments.

Four apartments have been named after artists represented with several prints; avant-garde artist Avgust Černigoj (1898-1985), master of mosaics Jože Spacal (1939-2020), Klavdij Tutta (1958) and Pavle Medveček (1933-2020).

The prints were created in the second half of the 20th century with the oldest one dating back to 1951 and the newest one to 1989.

The artists included helped shape modern art in the cross-border area that is hosting the European Capital of Culture this year, according to Hit.

The exhibition is open every Wednesday afternoon or at other times by prior appointment. Visitors will receive a special postcard and bookmark, while a catalogue of the prints and the artists has been created for the exhibition.
